Cross-Sectoral Dialogue on Water sustainability: Collaborative Roundtable (2025)

Phoenicia University (PU) actively promotes cross-sectoral dialogue on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by bringing together academia, research experts, and civil society partners to address pressing community challenges.

In July 2025, PU initiated and hosted the Cross-Sectoral Dialogue on Water Sustainability: Collaborative Roundtable at the PU Interactive Hall. Participants included representatives from the Lebanese Welfare Association for the Handicapped (LWAH), the NGO partner, as well as members from PU’s College of Public Health and members of two municipalities, Faten Mahana and Moustafa Khalife.

The roundtable discussed three themes: the global water agenda and WHO water quality standards (SDG 6), water safety and disease prevention in Lebanon (SDG 3, 6), and water resilience after the 2024 war (SDG 11, 17). Building on PU’s ongoing Water Quality Testing programme, it concluded with agreed joint priorities and an action plan with named owners and deadlines.

By convening these stakeholders, PU strengthens collaboration between science, community organisations, and local actors, and positions itself as a contributor to water safety and crisis resilience.
