Water Microbiology Awareness Session with Dr. Hamdan Hamdan

Phoenicia University (PU) hosted a free public awareness session on Water Microbiology, presented by Dr. Hamdan Hamdan, to enhance public understanding of water quality, environmental health, and the prevention of water-borne diseases. The session was open to students, faculty, staff, and members of the wider community, reflecting the University's commitment to disseminating scientific knowledge beyond the campus.
Drawing on expertise supported by PU's Environmental and Water Testing Laboratory, the session examined the microbiological aspects of water quality, including sources of contamination, common water-borne pathogens, methods of microbiological testing, and the principles of water treatment and purification. Participants also gained practical insights into the relationship between water quality and public health, as well as the importance of regular monitoring and safe water management practices.
The session translated scientific concepts into accessible information for a diverse audience, encouraging informed decision-making and increasing public awareness of environmental health issues. By offering this educational activity free of charge and welcoming community participation, PU reinforced its role in promoting scientific literacy, environmental responsibility, and community engagement through inclusive public education.
