Research Partnership: Public Health Needs Assessments for LWAH

Through PBHL 203 (Program Planning, Implementation and Evaluation) and PBHL 212 (Food Security and Safety), Public Health students collaborate with the Lebanese Welfare Association for the Handicapped (LWAH) to assess the needs of the populations it serves. Students apply public health methods to examine nutritional needs, food security, access to essential resources, and broader community health concerns, helping identify key needs, challenges, and areas for improvement.

Following the assessment process, students analyze the information collected and develop structured, evidence-based recommendations tailored to LWAH’s identified needs. They then present their findings and recommendations to the organization, providing practical input that can support the planning, development, and improvement of LWAH’s programs and services.

This partnership provides students with practical experience in applying public health knowledge to a real community setting while enabling LWAH to benefit from student-led research, analysis, and evidence-based recommendations that can inform its future programming and community support initiatives.
