PU Hosts “AI bil Arabi” Workshop in Collaboration with ARIJ and the Google News Initiative

Phoenicia University hosted the “AI bil Arabi” workshop, organized in collaboration with ARIJ (Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism) and supported by the Google News Initiative (GNI).

The workshop aimed to equip students from all academic backgrounds with the skills to use Artificial Intelligence tools effectively, ethically, and safely in research, writing, content creation, and information verification. The session was led by Mr. Saleh Jamil, a certified AI trainer from the ARIJ TOT Program.

The event combined interactive presentations with hands-on training, allowing students to explore real AI tools and understand both their potential and their limitations. Highlights included explanations of AI fundamentals, demonstrations of practical applications, discussions on AI biases and misinformation, and guided activities where students worked with AI tools under expert supervision.

As part of ARIJ’s regional initiative to enhance AI literacy across the Arab world, the workshop provided students with practical skills, deeper awareness of AI ethics, and certificates of participation, reinforcing the value of responsible and informed use of emerging technologies.
