PU Faculty Member Speaks at International ENT Conference in Dubai

Ms. Isis Jardak, a distinguished faculty member in the Speech Therapy program, proudly represented Phoenicia University as a speaker at the Scientex Otorhinolaryngology and ENT Surgery Conference held in Dubai in May 2025.

This prestigious international academic gathering brought together leading professionals in ear, nose, throat, and voice care from around the world.

Her presentation, titled “Bridging ENT and Speech Therapy: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Voice Disorders and Professional Voice Care,” underscored the essential role of collaborative care in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of voice disorders. Drawing from her clinical expertise, Ms. Jardak emphasized that optimal vocal recovery is achieved when ENT specialists, speech-language therapists, and other allied professionals work hand in hand.

Throughout her talk, she highlighted the distinction between functional dysphonia—a voice dysfunction without an apparent structural abnormality—and structural voice pathologies, such as nodules or polyps. She explained how tailored speech therapy plays a pivotal role in both preventive care and post-surgical rehabilitation, particularly for professional voice users such as teachers, performers, broadcasters, and call center agents who rely on vocal endurance.

Ms. Jardak also shared clinical insights and case studies demonstrating how voice therapy interventions, including manual techniques, acoustic analysis, vocal hygiene education, and breathing exercises, contribute to improved outcomes and long-term vocal health.

Her participation at the conference reflects her and Phoenicia University’s commitment to academic excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and global engagement. PU continues to empower its faculty to contribute to cutting-edge knowledge in their respective fields and to represent the university on prestigious international platforms.
