Promoting Equality, Justice, and Positive Change – Alumni SDG Training

PU engages its alumni through a series of educational initiatives delivered both online and on campus, aimed at raising awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their relevance to professional practice and community engagement. Each training addresses specific SDG themes and encourages alumni to consider their role in advancing sustainable development across different sectors.

An example is the “Promoting Equality, Justice, and Positive Change – Alumni SDG Training,” which focused on SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). The training introduced the 17 SDGs and examined the interconnected relationship between gender equality, human rights, and access to justice. Key topics included women's rights, equal opportunities, gender-based discrimination, non-discrimination, and the role of transparent, accountable, and inclusive institutions in promoting justice and social equity. The session further examined the relevance of these goals across different professional disciplines, encouraging alumni to identify practical ways to incorporate gender-responsive and inclusive approaches into their respective fields. Through structured discussions and interactive activities, alumni explored how their professional knowledge and expertise could contribute to advancing SDG 5 and SDG 16 within their workplaces and communities.

Through these initiatives, PU reinforces its engagement with alumni as partners in promoting the SDGs beyond the University community.
