Phoenicia University World Health Day 2024
As part of World Health Day, on April 30 2024, students took the lead in organizing “Wellness Wonderland,” an interactive health awareness event that brought together the Public Health Society, Speech Therapy Society, and Risala Club.
Through student-led booths and activities, participants explored different dimensions of health and well-being, including smoking prevention, oral and vocal health, nutrition and physical activity, cognitive skills, stuttering, and environmental health.
The event provided students with an opportunity to transform health knowledge into engaging activities, interact with the university community, and promote awareness of healthy behaviors. It also encouraged collaboration, communication, creativity, and community engagement, highlighting the important role students can play in health promotion.
At the Environmental Booth, the discussion centered on the concept of the ecological footprint — explaining how everyday activities and behaviors affect the environment, and how each individual's footprint varies depending on their lifestyle and choices, from resource use to the land and ecosystems that absorb that impact. The booth also addressed white phosphorus, focusing on its harmful effects on the environment, including the lasting damage it can cause to soil and vegetation when used. As a practical activity promoting environmental responsibility, seeds were distributed to participants, encouraging them to plant and contribute positively to the land around them.
