Heat Transfer Laboratory

The Heat Transfer Laboratory is located in Block B, Room 210. This laboratory is fully equipped to conduct various experiments showcasing the fundamental modes of heat transfer and their applications, such as conduction, convection, and radiation.

Some of the major equipment available in this laboratory are:

  • Heat Exchanger Service Module:
    • Studies the effect of varying flow rate and varying temperature on heat transfer coefficients
    • Studies continuous heating and batch heating through a jacket and coil
    • Studies how stirring affects heat transfer
  •  Air-Conditioning Training Unit:
    • Trains students on how to use a Psychrometric Chart
    • Analyzes air conditioning process and the effect of airflow on the process
    • Analyzes refrigeration cycle
  •  Engine Cycle Analyzer:
    • Analyzes the performance of small engine, four-stroke petrol engine, and four-stroke diesel engine
  •  Heat Transfer Experiment Base Unit:
    • Performs experiments on linear heat conduction and radial heat conduction
    • Studies heat transfer on extended surfaces
    • Studies conductivity of liquids and gases
  •  Thermoelectric Device Demonstrator:
    • Determines Seebeck coefficient
    • Analyzes the performance of thermoelectric generator
    • Studies Peltier effects on thermoelectric modules
