Dr. Jana Rammal Participates in COP31 Simulation Programme in Cairo

Dr. Jana Rammal, Laboratories Supervisor and Research Assistant at Phoenicia University, participated in the COP31 Simulation Programme held in Cairo, Egypt.

During the programme, Dr. Rammal took part in the AI and Climate Innovation thematic discussions as a member of the UNFCCC Secretariat Team, contributing to negotiations and policy discussions on the responsible use of artificial intelligence in climate action.

Her participation addressed several emerging areas at the intersection of technology and environmental policy, including AI-enabled early-warning systems, climate-risk assessment, monitoring, reporting and verification, technology transfer, capacity building, and equitable access to climate technologies for developing countries.

Dr. Rammal also participated in the Climate Finance and Debt Lab, where discussions focused on climate-finance reporting, concessional finance, debt-for-climate mechanisms, and the financial needs of developing and climate-vulnerable countries.

Her participation provided an opportunity to engage with international climate-policy discussions and explore how scientific research, emerging technologies, and financing mechanisms can contribute to more effective and inclusive climate action.

Through the participation of its academic and research staff in international programmes and policy discussions, Phoenicia University continues to strengthen its engagement with global issues related to sustainability, research, technology, and environmental development.
