Beyond Beauty: Law Meets Aesthetics

On June 13, 2025, the Law Society at Phoenicia University hosted a thought-provoking session featuring Dr. Raed Rteil, Facial Plastic Surgeon, and Dr. Ashraf Rammal, Attorney at Law, exploring the legal and ethical dimensions of aesthetic medicine.
Moderated by PU student Dana Dabbous, the session addressed critical questions surrounding the field: Who is legally authorized to practice aesthetic medicine? What happens when procedures go wrong? How is liability determined, and how can both patients and practitioners be protected? The discussion also examined the role of social media in shaping—and sometimes distorting—the aesthetic medicine industry.
As Dr. Raed Rteil emphasized, “Entering an aesthetic clinic should mean being treated as a patient—not a customer. When you’re seen as a transaction rather than a medical case, the standards of care, safety, and ethics begin to erode—starting with what is being injected, and by whom.”
The session brought together legal and medical perspectives to promote greater awareness, accountability, patient safety, and ethical practice in aesthetic medicine.
