About the Program

The Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Civil and Environmental Engineering program is dedicated to enhancing society's well-being. It involves planning, constructing, maintaining and managing sustainable projects that benefit both communities and the environment. This field covers various areas, from building structures and transportation systems to environmental studies and construction management. It continually evolves with new technologies and materials, presenting challenges in adhering to regulations for environmental sustainability and safety. Civil and Environmental engineers work to balance society's needs for a better quality of life with the preservation of our natural environment.

Vision
The Department’s vision is to be recognized as one of the leading departments in the field of civil and environmental engineering education and research in Lebanon and the region.

Mission
The Department’s mission is to equip civil and environmental engineering students with the required knowledge, skills, and capabilities, graduating job-ready civil and environmental engineers who are highly recognized as active citizens and professionals in their communities, can lead and compete in an increasingly complex and competitive industry and job market, and who are sought-after practitioners in Lebanon and the world.

Student Learning Outcomes

• SLO1. an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics,

• SLO2. an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors,

• SLO3. an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences,

• SLO4. an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts,

• SLO5. an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives,
