Education Programs

Nowadays more attention is paid to the learning and teaching process through education programs that are student-centered and that are connected to real-life situations, equipping students with the necessary skills to survive in a globally connected and complex world as well as a challenging market. The CCE offers a range of short courses which shift the education process from ‘what the teacher is’ or ‘what the student is’ to ‘what the student does’, fostering an environment for active learning and participation, self-directed learning, and lifelong learning. The range of education certificates that we offer are:

  • Certificate in STEM Education: This certificate is offered after the trainees have covered the 5Ws of STEM education and successfully demonstrated their capability in designing, delivering, and assessing three STEM lessons.

  • Certificate in ICT in Education (ICTE): This certificate is offered to the trainees following:
    • exploring the TPACK model,
    • utilizing various ICT tools and online platforms for education purposes,
    • acquiring advanced knowledge relating to digital literacy, and
    • designing, delivering, and assessing three “TPACKed” lessons.

  • Certificate in Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching (MKT): The MKT model is a blended American-Australian model which fosters an effective and powerful learning and teaching approaches in mathematics. Trainees receive the MKT certificate after exploring and practically demonstrating capabilities in each of the five elements of the model:
    • Procedural Knowledge (PK),
    • Procedural Fluency and Flexibility (PFF),
    • Conceptual Knowledge (CK),
    • Mathematical Connections (MC), and
    • Student Thinking (ST).

  • Certificate in English Learning and Teaching: This certificate is offered after the trainees explore and successfully demonstrate learning and teaching capability in our TESOL integrated approach, where activities and tasks integrating the four language strands (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) are shared, evaluated, practiced, and assessed.

  • Certificate in Education Leadership: In this course, education leadership is stressed as a collaborate process that unites the talents and forces of all stakeholders: teachers, staff, students, parents, community, and policy makers. Learners acquire strategies, tactics, and approaches that create and sustain a positive, creative, and constructive school climate while improving the quality of education and the education system itself. Trainees in this course explore education leadership through identifying, achieving, and sustaining common educational aims within their schools/education institutes.

  • Certificate in Tertiary Education: This certificate is offered to individuals who hold a master’s degree or a PhD and are eager to acquire professional education training for university teaching. Participants in this course are trained on how to:
    • design their syllabus,
    • deliver their courses effectively and efficiently,
    • connect their content to real-life and practical settings,
    • assess their students using a range of methods,
    • employ ICT and internationalization practices in their courses,
    • manage their classrooms/lecture halls,
    • connect their learning and teaching practice to the university’s mission and policies,
    • assess student learning outcomes,
    • evaluate and continuously develop their teaching approach, and
    • map their teaching practice to their research activities.
