Phoenicia University Announces the Appointment of Dr. Kamel Abou Ghali as Interim-Dean of the College of Engineering

Phoenicia University is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Kamel Abou Ghali as Interim Dean of the College of Engineering, effective June 1, 2025. Dr. Ghali furnishes a distinguished academic and professional background, combining extensive experience in education, research, and industry.

Dr. Ghali holds a Ph.D., M.Sc., and B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas State University (KSU), USA, in addition to a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the American University of Beirut (AUB). Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing engineering education and research, as well as fostering innovation in the field of mechanical engineering.

With a career spanning over three decades, Dr. Ghali has held various academic and leadership positions, including Chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Department at AUB (2012–2019) and tenured full professor at AUB (2019–2024). His leadership was instrumental in securing ABET reaccreditation for AUB’s mechanical engineering department in 2015 and in enhancing its graduate programs.

Beyond academia, Dr. Ghali gained valuable industry experience as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Dar Al-Handasah Consultants in Beirut, where he contributed to large-scale engineering projects. His research focuses on energy conservation in buildings, human comfort in indoor environments, and renewable energy integration, leading to the publication of over 300 papers in international journals and conferences. His expertise has positioned him among the top 2% of scholars worldwide in his field, according to a Stanford University study.

Most recently, Dr. Ghali has served as a Visiting Professor and Research Scholar at KSU, USA, further strengthening his connections with international academic and research communities.
