About the Program

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at Phoenicia University prepares nurses who are competent, compassionate, and culturally sensitive in meeting the health needs of individuals, families, and communities. Through a student-centered and experiential learning environment, the program fosters critical thinking, ethical practice, lifelong learning, and leadership in improving health outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.

Mission

The Nursing Program at Phoenicia University prepares competent, compassionate, ethical, culturally sensitive and socially responsible nurses who are equipped to meet the evolving health needs of individuals, families, and communities. Through high-quality education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and integration of research and practice, the program fosters leadership, lifelong learning, and service to advance the nursing profession and promote the right to health for all.

 

Program Educational Objectives

• PEO1. Integrate nursing science within social, behavioral, and liberal arts knowledge to deliver evidence-based, contextually appropriate nursing care, demonstrating clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and sound judgment in diverse and evolving healthcare settings.

• PEO2. Provide holistic, person-centered and family-centered care across the lifespan, engaging individuals as active partners, respecting cultural, spiritual, and personal values, and applying the nursing process to promote health, prevent illness, and restore well-being. 

• PEO3. Promote public and vulnerable groups through community engagement, disease prevention, health promotion, policy advocacy, and disaster/emergency preparedness to improve outcomes for communities and populations. 

• PEO4. Integrate research, evidence and data science interactive by critically appraising and synthesizing evidence, engaging in scholarly inquiry and applying findings to solve clinical problems and improve patient care outcomes. 

• PEO5. Apply principles of quality improvement and patient safety care to design, implement and evaluate strategies that ensure safe, high-quality outcomes. 

• PEO6. Collaborate effectively within interprofessional teams, demonstrating effective communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to optimize patient and system outcomes. 

• PEO7.  Understand healthcare systems and policies, including organizational structure, financing, and regulatory frameworks, and global health trends, to advocate for and provide equitable care. 

• PEO8. Utilize informatics, digital health, and emerging technologies to support clinical decision- making, ensure safe documentation, use big data for quality improvement, and expand access to care through telehealth, while upholding ethical and legal standards. 

• PEO9. Demonstrate professionalism and ethical integrity by upholding nursing values, accountability, and advocacy; respecting human dignity and diversity; and adhering to legal, regulatory and professional standards of practice in nursing. 

• PEO10. Engage in continuous personal, professional, and leadership development, fostering resilience, cultural humility, self-reflection, and    lifelong learning while preparing to assume leadership roles and serve as a change agent in dynamic health environments.

Student Outcomes

• SO1. Plan, deliver and evaluate patient-centered, and empathetic nursing care, that integrates cultural sensitivity, evidence-based practice, and interprofessional collaboration to achieve high-quality outcomes. 

• SO2. Access, critically analyze, and apply information from clinical data, scientific evidence, and community resources to promote health and improve outcomes at the individual, family, and community levels. 

• SO3. Employ systematic and evidence-based problem-solving process to identify, prioritize and address real or potential health problems, while developing and testing innovative solutions in diverse care settings 

• SO4. Demonstrate effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills, utilizing informatics and digital health tools strategies to build therapeutic relationships and partnerships with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team. 

• SO5. Apply ethical reasoning and professional values to advocate for patient rights, promote equity and social justice, lead within healthcare teams, and engage in decision-making that upholds legal, mora, and regulatory standards. collaborate with others and exhibit leadership as a healthcare professional.
