About the Program
The Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) program at Phoenicia University offers a comprehensive and engaging educational experience. This esteemed program emphasizes core foundational courses, engineering and technical subjects, architecture electives, and a well-rounded general education curriculum. Phoenicia University's Architecture program is dedicated to nurturing students' architectural skills, encompassing structural principles, design theory, architectural history, construction techniques, and visual representation. This is achieved through a carefully designed curriculum that encourages innovative design thinking. Additionally, the program delves into contemporary challenges in built and natural environments, addressing design considerations at various scales, from architectural elements to urban landscapes, with depth and insight. Program Educational Objectives
PEO1: Impart on students’ proper understanding of the theoretical, technical, and practical aspects of relevant disciplines of design.
PEO2: Encourage the development of an individual approach to design (without imposing one single design philosophy and without falling back on “styles” and formalist approaches).
PEO3: Stimulate and cultivate the creative power of each student.
PEO4: Acquaint students with technical and intellectual competencies, individual capabilities, and contemporary design approaches.
PEO5: Provide a broad-based learning experience that prepares students for careers in the professional practice of architecture as it relates to the general culture and liberal arts.
PEO6: Enhance students’ social and environmental responsibility by contributing to creating environments that improve quality of life, increase productivity, preserve the environment, and protect the health, welfare, and safety of the public at large.

Student Learning Outcomes
SLO1. In the Area of Design:
An extensive and comprehensive professional and technical skills (and knowledge) needed to qualify as design thinker and competent professional practicing architect across different scales, scopes and tasks (problem solving, form making, planning, etc.). The adopted approach is both experimental and interdisciplinary in nature, whereby the stress is not solely on end-product but rather on processes and methods as well.
SLO2. In the Area of History, Theory and Criticism:
An extensive and comprehensive knowledge and information (analytical and critical, basic and advanced) that would represent the theoretical grounding and foundation for the solid understanding and production of architecture (provided that the above knowledge is properly positioned and framed within broader historical geopolitical and cultural context).
SLO3. In the Area of Representation:
The ability and skills needed to visually and verbally communicate complex design thinking and concepts, in the most technically correct, artistically sensible and conceptually relevant manner through the use of diverse traditional manual and advanced digital media and tools.
SLO4. In the Technical Area:
The basic and necessary knowledge and skills relevant to structural, constructional and environmental design, with a special focus on sensible practices relating to sustainability, public safety, and welfare.
SLO5. In the Professional Practice and Management Area:
The capacity for leadership and collaborative teamwork skills among other skills needed to be good service provider who is well-prepared for productive career in the architectural profession with full awareness of all relevant professional standards, legal guidelines and ethical practices intended to better serve the field, the client, and the community at large.
