Appointment of Dr. Mageda Sharafeddin as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences

Phoenicia University is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Mageda Sharafeddin as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, effective Oct.1, 2024. Dean Sharafeddin is an invaluable asset to the university with an extraordinary background in computer science, an impressive track record in cutting-edge research and a distinguished career as a remarkable educator.

While this announcement comes later than initially planned due to the unprecedented circumstances, we are thrilled to share this momentous news with you all. Since joining PU in 2021 as the coordinator of the Computer Science Program, Dr. Sharafeddin has also served as Assistant and Associate Dean and has played a pivotal role in the college’s growth and academic advancements.  She has 13 years of experience in software development with IBM, NY, and US as well as 12 years of research and teaching experience in higher education at top Lebanese universities, namely, LU, AUB, and LAU.

Her research experience in Software-Hardware Co-Design, Distributed Systems, and Natural Language Processing as well as her being a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) adds a hub of innovation, expertise and leadership. Dean Sharafeddin’s appointment at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences remains at the forefront of both academic and research excellence.
