Dr. Samarji’s Call for a Worldwide Shift in STEM Education Policies

Dr. Ahmad Samarji, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, has recently published a policy brief with Emerald, UK, urging policymakers worldwide to amend current science and STEM education strategies and policies. Dr. Samarji informed his call for a policy shift by the disproportional interest and retention rates of students in STEM fields and by what the COVID-19 crisis has so far revealed about the false public assumptions and people’s unrealistic expectations of the role of science and scientific research (e.g., medicine, virology, etc.) during emergencies. His policy brief is titled “The “S” in “STEM”: Education and Policies Amid and Post-COVID-19”. The full document can be accessed via the following link: https://emeraldopenresearch.com/documents/4-1.
